In Alabama snares are only permitted in water sets. They may be utilized to trap aquatic mammals such as beaver, nutria, muskrat and otter. Snares should be located partially in water. It is important that the locking mechanism be located at either the one o’clock position, or the eleven o’clock position. When the animal swims through the snare, the snare closes around the animal's body so that it cannot escape.
Important! All trappers must check their traps at least once a day.
