Pointing a Shotgun
Shotguns are designed to be pointed, with the shooters eye sighting a little above the barrel of rib, keeping both eyes open. The shooters eye must be in line with the barrel, so the head position is important. When mounting the gun the stock should be brought to your cheek first then back to your shoulder. When done properly, with the head naturally erect, the butt of the gun should always come to the same spot on the shoulder.
