Minnesota Adult Hunter Safety Course

Sources of Funding

The Minnesota Firearms Safety Hunter Education Program is sponsored by the DNR. The program itself, however, is funded by numerous sources such as:

  • Manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and archery equipment (through the Pittman-Robertson Act)
  • The Fish & Wildlife Service (provides funds to state agencies based on the number of hunters they educate and the time spent in the classroom)
  • Public Wildlife Agencies
  • Private Wildlife Conservation Groups such as the Minnesota Wild Turkey Federation, the Minnesota Waterfowl Association and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, to name a few
  • Local Sportsmen Clubs and businesses (provide classrooms and resources for hunter education classes)
  • The IHEA
  • You!
