Nova Scotia Hunter Safety Course

The quartering-toward shot offers an ethical dilemma. The vital organs are vulnerable at this angle and if the hunter gets off a good shot the animal will expire quickly, however this shot will ruin the front quarter of the animal, and can lead to hemorrhaging into the muscle sheath which will also waste a lot of meat. It is advisable for firearm hunters to wait for a better shot. Bowhunters should not attempt this shot.
