What do I want to hunt?
In general terms, we have described some of the things to consider when planning your first hunt. If you are really eager to bring home some game for the table, consider upland bird hunting or deer hunting for your first hunt. On the other hand, if you are looking for bigger challenges and the chance to explore wilderness areas maybe moose or elk are for you.
What is important is that you understand what your expectations are and plan your hunt to meet those expectations. If you are looking to see lots of game and have very limited time, likely you would not choose a moose hunt. On the other hand, if you want to explore wilderness areas in the forest you would not likely want to choose a duck hunt for your first time out.
The beginning hunter will do just fine with any of our game species provided you plan your hunt and have a full understanding of what you might or might not expect.
Do not be discouraged if opportunities seem few and far between at first. It is all a part of hunting.
A good hunter never gets discouraged!
